Spring 2021 Exam Information

End of Course (EOC) Exams

  • Dates: May 21 - May 27
  • Exams given for: Math 1, Math 3, Biology, English 2

  • All students (including Virtual Academy and Remote) must take their exam in person, at school

  • Exam schedule

    • Monday 5/17 & Tuesday 5/18 - Testing for students who did not take their Fall 2020 Exams. These students will be individually notified through their school email

    • Friday 5/21 Block 1 State Tests on-site (teacher-made exams remote) 1:00 dismissal

    • Monday 5/24 Block 2 State Tests on-site (teacher-made exams remote) 1:00 dismissal

    • Tuesday 5/25 Block 3 State Tests on-site (teacher-made exams remote) 1:00 dismissal

    • Wednesday 5/26 Block 4 State Tests on-site (teacher-made exams remote) 1:00 dismissal

    • May 27 - Makeup Exams

  • Students should make every effort possible to take their exam on the scheduled date as this allows proper planning to meet COVID protocols.

  • EOC Exams will count as 20% of the student’s final grade

  • COVID guidelines and protocols will be followed during testing (small groups of students per room, social distancing, mask-wearing, equipment and rooms sanitized, etc.). 

 

CTE Exams

  • Career & Technical Education Classes (CTE) will hold final exams from 05/21/21-05/27/21. The testing schedule will follow the schedule outlined for EOC Exams.

  • For information regarding CTE Exams, please contact Ms. Sheryl Coson (sheryl.coston@nhcs.net) or your student’s CTE teacher as not all CTE courses have a state-required exam.

 

End of Semester Exams - Teacher Created (all courses that do not have a state exam)

  • Per NHCS Policy: “In courses that offer credit toward high school graduation, an examination shall be administered at the conclusion of each semester. End-of-Course examinations and NC Final Exams required by the State Board of Education shall be utilized in lieu of a teacher developed examination and shall count as twenty percent (20%) of the final grade, if the exam score is available, with the exception  of students following  the Occupational Course of Study."

  • All courses that are not a CTE course or an EOC Course (EOC Courses = Math 1, Math 3, Biology, and English 2) will have a teacher-made final assessment. 

  • Teacher made final assessments will be provided remotely for students from May 21 - May 27.

  • These assessments will calculate as 20% of the student’s final grade

  • Teachers will be releasing information concerning the specifics for their teacher-created final exam.
