Parking

General Parking Information for 2019-2020

Due to high demand and limited availability of student parking, the following policies will be in place for students:

  • No parking passes will be sold to any 9th or 10th grade student at any time during the school year.

  • Passes will be sold in person only.  Requests will not be fulfilled by fax, email, or phone.

  • Parking passes will be sold by the student’s grade level only.  No preference due to CFCC/UNCW classes, IB courses or any other exception will be given.

  • All students must have a valid driver’s license by the first day of school (Aug. 27, 2019) to receive a parking pass for the school year.  If you do not have a valid driver’s license by that date you will not be eligible for a parking pass for this school year. There are no exceptions to this policy.

  • Students will not be permitted to choose their own parking space.  Parking passes will be assigned by staff.


New Academic and Attendance Policies to be verified through PowerSchool

Academic and attendance policies will be part of the requirement to maintain the privilege of having a parking pass.  

  • To be eligible for a parking pass, all students must have a minimum 2.0 weighted GPA

  • Must be passing all classes or have a 2.0 weighted GPA per 9 weeks

  • Must have 6 or less tardies in any one class per 9 weeks

  • Must have 6 or less absences in any one class per 9 weeks (excused or unexcused)

  • A report will be generated and run every 9 weeks to check these requirements

  • Any student who fails to meet these requirements will be placed on probation for the next 9 weeks. Student and parents will be notified of this probation by school administration. If that student does not meet the requirements at the end of the next 9 weeks, their decal will be revoked for the remainder of the year and will be given to the next student on the waiting list.  

 

Rising Seniors (according to PowerSchool)

Seniors who complete the online registration form with all required information and who meet the academic requirements stated above by August 1, 2019 will be guaranteed a parking pass. Students will be notified by school email no later than August 12, 2019 that they are approved for a parking pass. Parking passes will be distributed in the media center on August 19-20 to Seniors only who have completed the online registration form during the designated period.  Seniors with last names beginning with A-M will report on August 19th. Seniors with last names beginning with N-Z will report on August 20th.

Rising Juniors (according to PowerSchool)

Juniors will complete the online registration form with all required information by Aug. 1st, 2019.  After senior registration is complete, remaining parking passes will go to Juniors by a lottery system.  A computerized random number generator will be used to select registration numbers from the online registration form.  Those Juniors will be notified by school email and their passes will be distributed in the media center on August 26th only.  

What if I can’t pick up my pass on my designated day?

If you are unable to pick up your parking pass on the designated day, you may send a representative in your place but they must have all the appropriate forms and documentation.  Students may only purchase one pass at a time. If a student is acting as a representative for another student they will need to get in the back of the line for each additional pass they are picking up. Copies of driver's license and vehicle registration are acceptable. Students who have a significant conflict and cannot pick up their pass on their designated day must email Mr. Haas.  Those students approved by Mr. Haas will have until Friday, August 30 to bring the required documentation and pick up their pass from Mrs. Allen. Once this deadline has passed, any passes not picked up will be given to the next student on the waiting list.

Please complete and bring the following items:
 

  • Print the 2019-2020 Hoggard Parking Agreement and bring signed by both student and parent.

  • Print the NHCS Student Vehicle Parking Agreement and bring signed by both student and parent.  (Administrators will sign forms at time of permit purchase.)

  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license. (Driver's permit is not acceptable.)

  • Current North Carolina vehicle registration for primary vehicle to be driven on campus (30 day temporary form is acceptable for new vehicles)

  • Pay $20.00 parking fee per school year (Cash or check payable to Hoggard High School) and ensure that all past due fines have been paid.

*Students who do not have ALL valid, unexpired documents and forms with proper signatures will not be able to purchase a parking permit.
